Set up in 5 minutes
Windows 10 / 11
- Right-click the ZIP → Extract All…
- Double-click install_windows.bat. If you see “Windows protected your PC”, choose More info → Run anyway (it’s a plain, readable script — not a signed program).
- Approve the firewall prompt so your iPhone can reach the PC on your home (Private) network only.
macOS
- Double-click the ZIP to extract it.
- Right-click install_mac.command → Open → Open (first time only, because it isn’t notarized).
- Allow incoming connections if macOS asks.
Linux
tar xzf lumina-server-linux-*.tar.gz && cd lumina-server-*./install_linux.sh(no sudo needed)
The installer finds or helps you install Python, asks which folder to back up into, and creates a strong access code. Then install Lumina Gallery on your iPhone and enter the address and code it shows — or scan the QR code from the Status screen. Re-running the installer updates the server and keeps your settings.
Private by design
- • Your photos go only to your own computer — nothing is uploaded to any cloud or to me.
- • Encrypted connection (HTTPS) that your iPhone pins to your PC’s certificate.
- • Protected by a strong access code, with lockout after repeated wrong guesses.
- • Only reachable on your home network — the firewall rule is limited to Private networks.
- • Fully open source: read every line on GitHub.
Organized automatically
Uploads land in Photos/2026/01-January and Videos/2026/01-January by the date they were taken. The installer asks before organizing photos already in your folder — files are only moved, never deleted, and keep their original names.
